Sherman has had work in many juried shows and has won ribbons/prizes over the years. First Place Pottery ‘82, ‘83, ‘84, Festival in the Park, First Place Sculpture (pottery) First Alabama Bank (Regions) Bank ‘82, several First Place awards through Sac’s Gallery shows ( both pottery and paintings), The Foy Gilmore Goodwyn Award Montgomery Museum 16th Annual Show, Second Place, Alabama National Fair, 2006. He has work in collections throughout the South. He studied art with well-known artist, Charles Shannon at Auburn University Montgomery where he earned a degree in art education. For nine years he taught Commercial Art at Ingram State Technical College, and also taught Art History part time for Alex City Jr. College Tutwiler. He did graduate level work in pottery. His son, Kevin, was also an artist.
