Finch Allen is a retired Naval Corps Officer who lives at Lake Martin, Alabama.
Finch graduated from the Montgomery Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. He studied Art History at the University of Alabama Graduating from Auburn University at Montgomery with a Bachelors in Nursing. Finch draws in pencils and paints in watercolors. He also is very fond of oils. His themes range from nature, people, weather, memorial portraits of animals in watercolor(dogs and cats are his favorite) and landscape oils. Finch does not try to limit himself to one medium. He uses other mediums such as cold wax, sand, paper, and other texture based mediums that you can add paint to to give definition and/or enhance the color. He also works in clay, but not often. At the age of 66, Finch still has an active Alabama RN license and finds himself busy as ever caring for family and friends, yet always makes time to paint. ”It is my therapy and I truly believe in my heart that with all art, that it is a gift from God... to make others happy. I always try to have a little hidden message in my work, or give it a little title, if it brings a smile or a tear to someone's face, well, I know the colors came together."
